To make a UK 261 claim – Where does it apply?

All flights departing from a UK airport and flights into the UK on a UK or EU airline. It also applies to flights into the EU on a UK airline.

  • Delays Over 3 hours Up to £1,040 per couple
  • Denied boarding for overbooking Up to £1,040 per couple
  • Cancellations with less than 14 days before Up to £1,040 per couple

  • What assistance must airlines provide?

    • All passengers must be informed of their rights, and access to information concerning their flight.
    • An alternative flight or full refund for all cases where passengers are denied boarding, a cancellation, or a missed connection.
    • Access to a minimum of two phone calls, fax messages, or emails.
    • Food & drink after two hours.
    • Accommodation for overnight delays, and the airline must provide transport between the accommodation and the airport.
    • Airlines should prioritise assisting those passengers with restricted mobility and unaccompanied minors.
    • Passengers don’t have to pay if the airline upgrades their ticket class. However, if downgraded, passengers should be reimbursed up to 75% of the ticket price.

  • To make a EU 261 claim - Where does it apply?

    All flights departing from an EU airport, plus flights landing in the EU on an EU airline. Switzerland, Iceland, and Norway are also covered.
